What Deadheads Are Saying

Questions?

Here are some answers to common questions we get asked.

What is Play Dead?

The first official Grateful Dead app, offering hi-res audio streaming of live recordings from the Grateful Dead Vault. Available now for iOS, Android and web. Plus CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

How much does it cost?

$9.99/month or $99.99/year. Play Dead is also available as an add-on to nugs.

What is the nugs/Play Dead bundle?

Add Play Dead to any nugs subscription to unlock the full Play Dead catalog, plus a massive library of exclusive live recordings, livestreams, and on-demand videos from Dead & Company, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Strings, and more of the world’s greatest touring artists.

Why are there partial shows on Play Dead?

We’ve unbundled 30 years of official live albums and organized them by the date they were performed. Over the years, many live albums contained parts of shows from multiple dates to fill up a CD or album side.

Why are some official live releases missing from Play Dead?

If it’s not on Play Dead, there is no hi-res master available. We will be rounding out the back catalog with new hi-res transfers on previous releases, while our focus remains on releasing new material every week.
